The heartwood is lighter brown in color, with darker tobacco tones shot through. The sapwood is a creamier shade. The grain is straight and smooth, while the texture is similar to oak—medium to coarse. A great “everyman” hardwood with an appealing price point.

Flooring, millwork, lobster traps, baseball bats, and tool handles.
