Australian Cypress
Attributes
Australian Cypress (Callitris glauca) evokes a cozy, rustic look, and the wood has a dynamic, camphor-like aroma. Its sapwood is cream colored, while its heartwood is honey-gold to brown with darker knots throughout. Within the species, there is a high degree of color variability. Another appeal of Australian Cypress is that it is the only commercial softwood that is actually harder than Red Oak.
Ideal For
Flooring, moulding and trimwork, ceilings, stair parts, cabinetry, and doors.
