American Cherry (prunus serotina) has a heartwood that is light to dark reddish brown and very lustrous. The sapwood is light brown to pale brown with a subtle pinkish hue. Regardless, the color darkens significantly with age. It has a fine and often wavy grain and features a satiny texture with some gum pockets. American Cherry is above average in dimensional stability.

Ideal For

Flooring, fine furniture, kitchen cabinetry, paneling, boat interiors, and musical instruments. Also an excellent wood for hand-carving.
